I have been called to help two Windows 7 users both with a similar problem - no hard disk space!  In both cases their hard drives were nearly full within weeks of buying a new pc

WHY?  I hear you ask.

WINDOWS 7 by default cretaes a Backup of the hard drive every Sunday.  If you have no external drive connected it backs up to your hard drive!  Thus your hard drive soon fills up with Backups of itself.

This fetahure is easyt to turn off.  Cluck on Backups and go through the wizard until you get to the screen where you can choose when to Backup.  Here you can choose no backups and close the Wizard

I have a legal, paid for, original copy of a famous accounting software named after a herb and used all over the place.

I no longer need it.  I may not sell it.  They prevented me from selling it. However I am willing to loan it to someone who wants to try out this software.  All I ask is you pay my courier/postage fee of £150.00

If your computer is getting slow it can often be because you are running out of virtual memory.  Windows needs a lot of virtual memory, space on your hard drive, to write up screens, this is how you can switch quickly from one program to another.  If your hard disk s full of pictures and music files you may run out of space.  Best answer is to save big files, such as photso and music, on another hard disk.  This cam simply be a plug in external hard dive or you can have (or fit yourself) another internal drive.  External drives are easier to fit, just plug them in and Windows does the rest. 

A friend called me in because he had paid for an online service through PayPal but couldn't get the service.  The service supplier was not answering his emails begging for help and he didn't know what to do.

I sat in with him when he tried to log in to the service and went through the process with him. I didn't know what the problem was but discovered, as we went through tt was simply a misunderstanding on how to log in for the service.  I didn't know the answer but between us we resolved the matter.

I didn't do anything magic.  I was simply more confident about clicking through web pages to check for errors and links. 

This is just another service I can offer.  It all took about fifteen minutes to resolve and I was happy to be there for just that short time.

All Pcs are configured differently.  Not everyone uses the same fonts, the same paper size, the same software.  This means if you send them a document by email it may look very different when they open it.

Do you want to send a newletter to your club members or a letter to someone and need to know that the layout you create will not appear differently on their PC?

I have found that by using GOOGLE or YAHOO as an email domain I can get my emails using Outlook Express, Windows Mail or any other email client as well as calling up my emails on the web using any PC anywhere.  Very useful.
